What is Push Technology?

What is ActiveSync?

ActiveSync is a server-side technology that allows a portable device, such as a PDA, to download email while updating the Exchange server with any contacts, notes or emails you may have written on the PDA. It does not use "push" technology in the sense that it polls the Exchange server over https (i.e. the device still has to find the server), and only does so at specified intervals.

  A Geeks life Living in L.A .........Linea

 

Castillar De LA Frontera

So, one of the pleasures of Living in La Linea is the proximity to some really interesting places. Last weekend, I decided to pop over to a place called Castillar in Jimena. Now there is the new town, which contains a Pueblo (funnily enough) and a Zoo on the outskirts of town. Then there is the old town which is based in the Castle and is a kind of hippy place in a hedonistic way. The castle was built on the hill by the Moors around 750 A.D. as part of making Jimena a strategic military position. Views stretch as far Gibraltar to the south. It is believed that the castle was built on Roman ruins, constructed using locally sourced limestone. I stopped by the old town first which was very quiet and chilled out the park in the centre of town had loads of fountains and statues, lots of bars of which I visited a few for a beer or two.

Getting to the castle was a treat as the views are fantastic, there is a lake below the castle, and it reminds me a lot of Ronda, due to the journey, views, small roads and of course the necessity of driving around and up several mountains. It's not that far from San Roque, so I would say the journey time was about 35 minutes or so and involved driving sensibly. This time when I arrived I had the pleasure of meeting the Falcon man. I got to have some photo's taken with the Falcon and watched it being set loose to search for food, it was very cool. The Town also has a resident artist whom I got a traditional oil painting from. All in all a good few hours spent walking around the little alabaster town.

 

 

 

I took my time returning, but still arrived at Pao's place (Suvacnabhumi, opposite the frontier next to House Grind) with plenty of time to enjoy the Sunday Chill out Session, that is to say we (being the regulars) now are rotating cooking are own speciality dishes, this is usually at about 6pm on a Sunday. Erik was cooking his own version of chilli con carne hot n spicy like I like it. It's a different way to spend a Sunday so is very popular because those who are not eating just enjoy the beers Cocktails and the company. This weekend I am making a chicken pepper sauce with Cous Cous, so let's hope that goes down well.
